BALIKPAPAN – Guncangan terasa saat warga baru memulai aktivitas pagi. Sebuah gempa bumi berkekuatan Magnitudo 4,6 menggoyang wilayah Balikpapan dan sekitarnya, Jumat (18/7/2025) pukul 07.59 WITA.
Getarannya cukup mengejutkan. Meski tidak besar, guncangan terasa di beberapa titik hingga membuat masyarakat sempat panik.
Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) mengonfirmasi bahwa pusat gempa berada di laut, tepatnya 107 kilometer tenggara Balikpapan, dengan kedalaman 26 kilometer. Lokasinya tercatat di koordinat 1,98 LS dan 117,48 BT.
Menurut Kepala Stasiun Geofisika Balikpapan, Rasmid, gempa ini tergolong dangkal dan dipicu oleh aktivitas sesar aktif di wilayah tersebut.
“Gempa terjadi pada pukul 07.59 WITA dan tergolong jenis gempa dangkal. Ini dipicu oleh aktivitas sesar aktif di wilayah tersebut,” ungkap Kepala Stasiun Geofisika Balikpapan, Rasmid.
Guncangan gempa dirasakan ringan hingga sedang di sejumlah daerah seperti Balikpapan, Kotabaru, Batulicin, dan Tanah Grogot, dengan intensitas II-III MMI.
Artinya, getaran dirasakan oleh beberapa orang dan benda-benda ringan yang digantung tampak bergoyang.
Meski demikian, hingga pukul 08.35 WITA, BMKG belum mencatat adanya gempa susulan. Tidak ada laporan kerusakan bangunan maupun korban jiwa akibat kejadian ini.
BMKG menegaskan bahwa masyarakat tidak perlu panik dan mengimbau untuk selalu memantau informasi resmi dari kanal yang terpercaya.
“Kami mengimbau masyarakat untuk tetap tenang dan tidak mudah percaya pada informasi yang tidak dapat dipertanggungjawabkan. Gunakan sumber resmi seperti @infoBMKG di media sosial, situs bmkg.go.id, atau aplikasi InfoBMKG,” tambah Rasmid.
